Introduction

Uncited Brands (“Uncited Brands,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates uncitedbrands.com and provides answer engine optimization (AEO) services to businesses. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit our site or engage our services, why we collect it, and what choices you have.

This policy applies to uncitedbrands.com and to the business relationship we have with clients who engage us for AEO work. It does not apply to the websites, products, or services of our clients, which are governed by those companies’ own privacy practices.

Information We Collect

We collect information in three ways: what you give us directly, what our systems collect automatically, and what we receive from third parties in the course of running an engagement.

Information you provide directly includes your name, email address, and any details you send us through the contact form, the audit request link, or the newsletter signup, along with anything you tell us about your business, your website, and your goals when we scope an engagement.

Information collected automatically includes standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, referring page, pages visited, and timestamps), and technical data related to how your device renders the site. We do not currently run analytics software such as Google Analytics on this site. If that changes, we will update this policy before doing so.

Information from third parties may include data pulled from publicly available AI answer engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Grok, Meta AI, and Google’s AI Overviews) as part of a TRACE Score audit or ongoing monitoring, and information from third-party citation sources, review platforms, and business directories that are already public. We do not purchase personal data lists or scrape private individuals’ data for this purpose.

How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to respond to inquiries and audit requests, to deliver the services described in a signed engagement, to send the field notes newsletter to people who ask for it, to maintain and secure the website, and to meet legal and accounting obligations.

We do not use client business data or audit findings for any purpose beyond the engagement without separate permission, and we do not sell personal information to third parties.

How We Share Information

We share information with the service providers that keep this website and our business running, such as our hosting provider and any email delivery tool we use to send the newsletter or client communications. These providers are only permitted to use the information to perform the service we’ve asked for.

We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or valid legal process, or if necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Uncited Brands, our clients, or others.

If Uncited Brands is ever acquired by or merged into another company, client and visitor information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the commitments in this policy.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

This site uses a limited set of cookies needed for the site and its caching layer to work correctly. See our Cookie Policy for the full list and for instructions on managing cookies in your browser.

Data Retention

We keep contact form submissions and audit requests for as long as reasonably needed to respond to the inquiry and for a period afterward in case you follow up, typically no longer than 24 months unless a client relationship begins. Client engagement records, including TRACE Score data and reports, are kept for the duration of the engagement and for a reasonable period afterward for accounting, legal, and reference purposes. Newsletter subscriber emails are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.

Your Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, the CCPA and CPRA give you the right to know what personal information we hold about you, the right to request deletion of that information, the right to correct inaccurate information, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front, but you can still exercise your other rights at any time.

Regardless of where you live, you can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or ask us to stop sending you marketing email, by writing to hello@uncitedbrands.com. We will verify your request and respond within a reasonable time, and in any case within the time required by applicable law.

Every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can also unsubscribe by emailing us directly.

Children’s Privacy

This site and our services are directed at businesses and business professionals, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it.

Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the information we hold, including access controls on our systems and secure hosting infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take the obligation seriously and will notify affected parties if a breach occurs where we are legally required to do so.

International Visitors

Uncited Brands is based in the United States and this site is hosted in the United States. If you access the site from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection rules than your home country.

Third-Party Links

Our site and our field notes may link to third-party websites, including AI answer engines, review platforms, and news sources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing them with information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time as our practices or applicable law change. We will post the revised policy on this page with a new effective date. If a change is significant, we will make reasonable efforts to bring it to your attention.
